Frank Miller is a inconic and legendary comic book artist and writer who first gained commercial and critical success in the late 1970s, thanks to his work on Marvel Comics Daredevil and Elektra. His ground-breaking series, later collected into one of the first graphic novels, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (1986) tells the tale of an aged Batman as a grim, brooding vigilante. It propelled Miller to one of the best-known comic creators of the 20th century. It also credited rejuvenated the entire Batman franchise as well influencing Tim Burton's wildly successful dark 1989 film Batman starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson.
Miller has gone on to further success with his crime noir series Sin City. Other works by Miller include the Ronin (1983), Give Me Liberty (1990), Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot (1995). His 1998 graphic novel about ancient Sparta, 300, was made into a hit 2007 film by director Zach Snyder. He wrote and directed the 2008 film The Spirit, a superhero tale based on the character created by Will Eisner. Currently he writes Batman & Robin the Boy Wonder for DC Comics.
